Prayer Mat Size Guide
A prayer mat needs to fit your whole prayer, from standing to prostration, without your forehead or feet landing off the edge. Here are the usual sizes and how to choose.
Standard prayer mat size
Most adult prayer mats are about 110–125cm long and 65–75cm wide (roughly 43–49 inches by 26–30 inches). Travel mats sit at the smaller end of that range so they pack down; home mats sit at the larger end.
What the length needs to cover
Length is the dimension that matters most. When you prostrate, your body stretches from your toes, which stay planted, to your forehead and nose on the ground in front. The mat should hold your knees, hands and forehead comfortably, with a little room to spare so you are not placing your head right at the edge.
Your height and build make a difference. Taller people, and anyone who places their hands and head further forward, will appreciate a longer mat. If you are unsure, go longer: a few extra centimetres cost nothing in comfort, while a mat that is too short is noticeable every single prayer.
What the width needs to cover
Width only needs to fit your knees, hands and feet with a little margin. Around 65cm is comfortable for most adults; 75cm feels generous and suits people with broader shoulders or anyone who likes more space for sitting.

Floor space and storage
